Phil is based in Kent but is available for events all over the UK if required. He performs his incredible magic in number of formats including Close up Magic. This is where Phil performs to small groups of people with the magic happening right under their noses or even in their own hands. For people who have never seen live magic before, this is the most powerful and memorable style of magic. The close up magic is very interactive is style. Many of the spectators will receive personalised souvenirs of the evening.
Close up Magic can be performed in a “mix and mingle” situation or at the dining tables. It has the additional benefit of helping bring together guests who do not know each other, giving them a shared experience to discuss.
Phil’s magic is appropriate for the following types of events:
Guests often have a period of time just standing around waiting while the photos are being taken and before the start of the Wedding Breakfast. Often many of the guests do not know each other. Phil will perform stunning magic during this time which avoids “dead time” for the guests but also helps introduce guests to each other, and acts as an ice-breaker.
Close up magic can also be performed during the Wedding Breakfast. This is performed between courses so that the guests enjoyment of the food is not disturbed.
Close up magic is ideal for corporate functions for both the period of time prior to commencement of a meal or at the dining tables.
Your guests can arrive and be treated to close up magic before and during the meal. Afterwards they can sit back and enjoy a different style of magic with a parlour show. This is particularly applicable for birthday parties, other celebrations or for a special event when sharing the evening with friends and family. It can make a unique dining experience.
Phil performs at Christmas parties at private homes, restaurants and hotels to provide something unforgettable to that Christmas magic.
Phil performs at various charity fundraisers periodically to help provide “that something special” to the evening. He has performed in the past for Francis House Childrens Hospice, WaterAid and local schools.
Phil can also present his magic in the following other formats:
- Formal Close Up Show is a show Phil performs which uses a table. Some magic, like the classic Cups & Balls, requires the use of a table for performance. Often at a dining table or in a “mix and mingle” situation, sufficient table space is not available for these astounding close up magic effects so Phil has designed a show for those times where a table is available. This show is therefore static in nature in that the guests must go to the table to watch the show. This can be an addition to the close up magic option.
- Parlour & Cabaret Magic where Phil performs a combination of magic and mind reading in a more formal show setting albeit with much audience interaction.
- Bunco Booth also known as the “Heads I Win, Tails you Lose” street gambling swindles. These include such items such as 3 card Monte, The Shells and Pea game, Fast and loose and others. Phil performs these in a style where the guests are not made to feel stupid for losing. This is performed at a separate table and can be an option to the close up magic.
- The Busking Act where Phil performs a street style magic act lasting approximately 20 minutes. The audience is generally standing up in an informal horseshoe. This is particularly effective as a conclusion to a close up magic engagement in an informal garden party type environment where a more formal cabaret show may not be the best fit. Some of the Bunco Booth routines can be included if requested by the event organiser.
